He wished that he could hold you in his arms and kiss those lips all day. He couldn’t bring himself to look away from your perfect lips. He was too preoccupied with how precious your eyes looked. In reality, he barely even registered that you were staring at him. You thought that he must know how you feel. You didn’t realize it at first, but as soon as you recognized his eyes on you, you panicked. You would have to live with gazing at Scott’s tall figure from across the room, staring back at you. It was either live with it or tell Scott how you felt, so you opted to live with it. It felt as if there was never the right place, but you learned to live with that. You were in the middle of a work meeting, it wasn’t the right place. You wanted to feel his stubble scratch softly at your face as he kissed you. All you wanted was for him to hold you in his arms all day. His beautiful eyes that seemed to hold all the kindness and playfulness in the world made you feel safe. You felt that it was hopeless, and yet your mind was made up. No, after everything was said and done, after Thanos was defeated twice, you were still pining after the man. Needless to say, you were more than relieved when he returned to you as more than dust and was the catalyst for getting all of your other friends back. You had always had a crush on you, and it broke your heart when you thought that he had been snapped away by Thanos. You couldn’t help but admire Scott from across the room. It honors and celebrates the past while ever so slightly building towards something to look forward to in a trippy new miniseries.Warnings: Minor Infinity War/Endgame spoilersĪ/N: This is Day 18 of the 31-Day Writing Challenge! I will be posting one fic, each based off the day’s prompt, every day in July! These fics will be a little shorter than normal, as most prompts only lend themselves to one scene. The events taking place don’t have much to do with the larger story, making it read like a side adventure with a small portion of the book building towards something bigger.Īnt-Man #1 is a fun romp through an earlier era in comics when moxie was everything, and the adventure of it all was the destination. However, it does make a lot of this book about the journey of revisiting an old style rather than the main story mattering a lot. That’s quite alright, especially for an anniversary celebration. #ANT MAN READER SERIES#The captions in particular are written in a style similar to Stan Lee, as the energetic voice is as excited as you are about the incredible adventure unfolding page by page.īy issue’s end, it’s quite clear this series will dip into a different era, with each issue bookending a bigger story together. Not only are thought balloons back, but the way characters speak to themselves out loud or how Ewing captures the gusto of a caption will bring you back to another era of comics creation. Those who enjoy the goofiness of Golden and Silver Age comics will adore what the creators are doing here. It sets them apart well while creating a mysteriousness to the future unbound by conventional comics styles. The future setting is defined well visually as it removes the lines of pencil and ink, using only colored shapes to define the character and setting. It’s like you’re holding an old comic with aged paper. The style is straight out of another era, down to the color choices and aged look of the gutters. This main story lives and dies by the incredible artistry of Tom Reilly who is backed by color artist Jordie Bellaire. The main story will be a bit too old-school for some, I’m sure, especially younger readers. In the future, computers can see us reading comics. ![]()
